Best Film

NZ9 by Anthony Gordon

I would like to extend a warm thank you and congratulations to the film entrants in the 2019 Visioning the Outdoors competition. There’s no better place to film and share your experiences than in the great outdoors. All the films presented this year had strengths, whether it be the quality of the filming, the editing, the soundtrack or the locations shown. The selected winner, NZ9, demonstrated all of these qualities. This was all achieved despite what was quite obviously a very difficult filming environment – long, drawn out sections of Great Walks in New Zealand, rain and snow, and fatigue. I am thoroughly impressed at what the crew achieved, both on foot and in terms of the movie they have put together.
Lachlan Ryan, Film Judge

I like how the leading line formed by the coast guides the viewers eye into this colourful coastal landscape. Chris Bray, Photo Judge
